The Rites of Passage program prepares young women for the transition to adulthood through educational workshops and interactive presentations. Traditional African customs and ceremonies help the young women match their self-identity with an African name. At the conclusion of the program, the young women are presented to the community in a colorful ritual ceremony that includes African dances. The program meets monthly at the Spring Valley Youth Bureau, Louis Kurtz Civic Center Building, 9 North Main Street, Spring Valley, NY.
